Kim Prothro Williams, is an architectural historian and historic preservationist. After being raised in Montgomery County, Kim returned to the region in her late 20s and has spent more than 30 years since then researching and documenting historic buildings, neighborhoods, and communities in D.C., Virginia, and Maryland. Her career has stretched from private sector historic preservation consulting to public service. For the past ten years Kim has served as the National Register Coordinator for D.C. where she identifies and designates historic properties to the D.C. Inventory and National Register.

Kim’s various projects over the decades have inspired a number of publications, including several books and articles on local history, many of which address her focus and interest on the transformation of place. These include Lost Farms and Estates of Washington, DC and Chevy Chase a Home Suburb for the Nation’s Capital.

Kim lives in Chevy Chase on the property where she grew up, next door to her parents, and in a house renovated by her architect-husband. Kim is looking forward to sharing highlights of her career through an illustrated and lively presentation with questions from the audience.
