The Democrats' budget reconciliation bill has gotten a ton of news coverage recently, and one of its major goals is to address climate change. As a result, many organizations have spent the past months lobbying Congress to include a "carbon price" in the bill, but what exactly does it mean to "price" invisible planet-warming gases, and why would a carbon price help combat climate change? Join us to learn about how carbon pricing works, how it would drive down greenhouse gas emissions, and how it could even put money in your pocket!
Brandon Levy and Laura Chap are volunteers with the Bethesda-Chevy Chase chapter of Citizens Climate Lobby, an organization that advocates for carbon pricing legislation at the national level. Brandon Levy grew up in Chevy Chase and is a graduate of Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School (Class of 2010). Laura Chap also grew up in Chevy Chase, and still lives here with her husband and four children.
